We released a huge sigh of relief the day we found out that our infertility insurance would cover my wife’s infertility treatments. I have been feeling so deeply frustrated because I have not been able to get maternity health insurance. A year ago, we were pleased to discover that my wife was pregnant. However, at the time, she was just out of school and I was laboring as a freelance graphic artist. We didn’t have insurance although we had planned to get some as soon as we could afford it. As I look down at the beaming, pink face of my child, I know that I would like the system to work better for future generations.

Short-term disability insurance came to the forefront of my mind when, Last winter, my husband went out to get the mail, slipped on a patch of ice and went down. Medicare Part B covers medically-necessary services and some preventive services that aren’t covered by Medicare Part A.
