Medicare can be very helpful for those who need it. In some countries, programs or benefits such as Medicare are not available. This leads me to my point and frustration with people who do not appreciate being an American. People that have never lived or been to another country do not know or understand how good us Americans truly have it. These are the people who are just truly ungrateful for what we have.

Myanmar, formerly called Burma, is a place where you would never want to go. Brutal police forces and unjust governments, Myanmar is not the land of the free. There are many countries across the globe that in comparison with the United States are 3rd world countries. Benefits, including unemployment benefits, Medicare, and so on are one of the perks of being an American citizen.

Why do you think the United States has such a bad problem with illegal residents. Mexican citizens have tried to escape to the US for a long time. Many are successful and the United States is filled with illegal residents who are simply looking for a better life. The militia in Juarez drives many people from their home land into the United States. However, many people that do escape the rough parts of Mexico, do end up becoming legal citizens of the US, Spanish-Americans, and able to live and work and raise their families here without the fear of a lot of things they must deal with in Mexico.

There are some obvious and not so obvious pros and cons of illegal immigration Statistics show that the US government received over $300 million in taxes from illegal residents. This day in age, where everything revolves around money, this is a positive thing for the US. Also these illegal aliens come and accept work working for very low wages This benefits companies who cut down on employee wages, and save a lot of money doing so.

One major con is the crime created by illegal immigrants. Many people and families have been killed by drunk drivers who were not even supposed to be in the country. They also take jobs away from Americans. The fact that they will work for half of what an American will hurts the American but benefits the illegal resident and the company.

Unemployment benefits, Medicare, free counseling for people who struggle with addiction, and freedom period makes the United States, the land of the free and the home of the brave, a desirable country to live in. The United States is a front runner of economic as well as military power. It is also a land of entertainment, that way more than any other country in the world.

Therefore, if you are an American citizen and think you have it bad, try moving to Juarez, Mexico. Try moving to Myanmar. Appreciate the benefits we have here in America such as Medicare for senior citizens, unemployment for the unemployed , etc. You should appreciate the military protection that it offers. Some countries the military turns on its own people! Appreciate being an American, and be proud to be an American.

Medicare and How it Came About

Thursday, February 24th, 2011

Medicare, to put it simply, is a social insurance program in the United States that is financed by the United States government. It provides health insurance coverage to people who are aged 65 and over, and meet other criteria. Get Fast Quotes for Medicare Supplements.

The amendment for Medicare was signed in 1965. Do you know by whom? That would be President Harry S. Truman. He also posessed the first medicare card, and his wife the second. President Lyndon B. Johnson enrolled former President Truman as the first Medicare beneficiary.

Harry S. Truman was born on May 8, 1884, and died December 26, 1972. He was the 33rd President of the United States . Harry S. Truman was born in Lamar, Missouri. President Truma was the oldest child of John Anderson Truman and Martha Ellen Young Truman. His middle initial S actually did not stand for anything.

President Truman was named after Harrison Young, who was his uncle. President Truman was in office from April 12, 1945 to January 20, 1953. President Truman was famous for numerous quotes.

One such quote was “the buck stops here.” He also started the quote, “if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.” President Truman took office after the death of President Roosevelt.

Truman had only been in vice presidency for a little over 80 days before taking office. President Truman said to reporters “Boys, if you ever pray, pray for me now. I don’t know if you fellas ever had a load of hay fall on you, but when they told me what happened yesterday, I felt like the moon, the stars, and all the planets had fallen on me.”

Can you imagine the stress of becoming president overnight? Truman was only in his vice presidency less than 90 days before being thrown into becoming the President of the United States.

Truman made his identity as a Democrat in the New Deal tradition, advocating national health insurance. President Truman has numerous things named in his honor. My personal favorite is the mascot for the Missouri Tigers. Their mascot is Truman the Tiger.

What A Senior Should Know About Choosing AARP Medicare Supplements

Friday, January 28th, 2011

Turning 65 is a milestone! Retirement is close, allowing seniors to enjoy more time at their leisure, for travel, and with their children and grandchildren. And also with that age comes the eligibility for Medicare, the standardized senior government-run insurance. But with so many to insure, it can’t possibly cover all health care expenses. So the need for AARP Medicare supplements comes into play.

Medicare provides seniors with insurance the best way it can. Hospital visits and home health care are covered under Part A. Doctor services, medically necessary supplies or equipment, and ambulance rides are covered under Part B. Separate prescription drug coverage run by individual insurance companies while being mandated by the federal government is taken care of by Part D.

Part A was paid for through taxes over the working years, but Part B carries a monthly premium. There is not full coverage for health care costs with either insurance. In the hospital, Part A will cover the first 20 days in full, then partially with a co-payment for the next 80 days. There are certain specifications that must be met before it will pay anything, and after 100 days the full responsibility is on the patient. Not only is there a deductible to be met for Part B, after that only 80% of what is approved will be paid.

Medigap insurance, or Medicare supplements, were created to fill those gaps in payments. They work along with the standard insurance to help relieve an individual from the excess not covered. Without them, a high price tag could accompany any illness or even a simple check-up. They are accepted by any doctor who accepts Medicare, regardless of who is backing the supplement.

Since the Federal government regulates all supplements, the plans, marked as A, B, C, D, F, G, K, L, M, and N, must have identical coverage regardless of the company providing them. They pay for hospital and doctor co-pays, plus something extra in each. These plans have a monthly premium but require only a small, if any, cost out-of-pocket as the individual needs care.

Between insurance companies, customer service and price are the only differences. AARP remains a fixture in the senior market. It has been one of the 50 plus community’s biggest advocates. In addition to supplemental coverage, insured by United Healthcare, they also offer auto and home insurance. Discounts from dining to travel can be enjoyed by all members. They pride themselves on presenting products that are relevant to retirees.

Medicare is not sufficient to cover health care costs alone. Dedicated to enriching the quality of life for the aging American, this company has been around since 1958. Seniors can count on AARP Medicare supplements to give them this important coverage. Whether the phone or on-line is more comfortable, it is easy to sign up. A quick call or a click can answer questions and determine which plan is the right one.

Selecting AARP Medicare supplement insurance for your medical gap coverage is a good option for the elderly. You can obtain discounted Medicare supplemental insurance when purchasing a policy through a group plan.

Health Care Reform Affects Under-Age Agents

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

Beginning on the first of 2011 a Medical Loss Ratio (MLR), part of the new health care reform law started regulating insurance companies. In the under-age market, insurance companies must now spend at least 80% of premiums on medical expenses, which leaves 20% to split between administrative costs and commissions for agents.

These new health reform rules will cut insurance brokers’ pay by 50% in some cases, effecting nearly 470,000 under-age market agents. Reports show commissions will drop from 15 to 20% on plans to 4 to 10%; and, for Blue Cross which used to pay 15% on the first year and 7% on residuals the following years will now pay 5% for both. Meanwhile, Golden Rule, owned by UnitedHealthCare is offering their brokers a per application bonus, understanding the cuts in commissions.

However, in 2014, even without the MLR regulations consumers will be able to find and obtain their own health insurance plans easily and on their own. Also, insurance agents negotiating rates for those with pre-existing conditions will no longer be necessary as health insurance companies will no longer be able to deny coverage based on conditions. This, unfortunately, has the potential to make those under-age insurance agents less and less necessary.

Also in 2014, almost 32 million Americans will have insurance under the health care laws and MLR will negatively impact the way the public uses health care, with potential job loss due to lower commissions at a time when consumers need the most help because of all the changes.

Critics argue smaller companies may go out of business, agents will see more cuts in compensation, and there will be reduced service quality to the consumer. Supporters say that industries are always changing and compare the change in the insurance industry to that of travel agents. Even though a lot of people buy their travel arrangements unassisted online there is still need for a travel agent. Now under-age insurance agents will just have to find their niche in the new insurance environment.

Some agents will choose to start working in the senior market, selling Medicare Supplements, as these changes will not affect commissions. President of Precision Senior Marketing, a leading insurance marketing organization in the senior market, Lucas Vandenberg said “The decline in commissions in the underage market has agents concerned about their future. That is why it is so important for these agents to consider diversifying their portfolio to focus on the exploding Senior Market. PSM specializes in helping agents make this transition.” Products available include Mutual of Omaha, Forethought Life, Gerber Life, and Sentinel Life having excellent commissions, ultra competitive premiums, Med Supp/Life combo applications, e-applications, top level service and support, and up to 12 month advancing available.

Precision Senior Marketing is located in Austin, TX and is a Medicare Supplement broker recruiting the best senior market insurance agents.

What Is Medigap Insurance And How Is It Crucial To Elderly People?

Wednesday, December 29th, 2010

There are a lot of questions that many seniors have concerning Medigap insurance. Perhaps, one of the most common questions that seniors tend to ask about this insurance plan is what is Medigap insurance. Well, relatively speaking this type of insurance policy is designed to cover any extra expenses that your present Medicare coverage does not cover for one reason or another.

Medigap coverage is an additional insurance policy that seniors can choose to get that will cover any additional expenses that their present government funded coverage does not cover for one reason or another. The policy will need to be purchased from an outside entity, and it is not given directly from the federal government to anyone.

At the present time, there are approximately twelve different Medigap policies available to seniors. Most of these policies carry the same benefits as their competitors, however the costs tend to differ from one policy to the next. So if you are opting to obtain this supplement source of coverage it is crucial that you shop around for the best insurance provider.

The government mandates that a person who is electing to purchase this additional coverage must already possess Medicare Part A insurance or Medicare Part B insurance in order to be eligible. You will need to render a premium payment for the coverage on either a monthly, semi-annually or annual basis.

There are some stipulations that exist with this type of coverage as well. For instance, this gap insurance plan does not cover any long term care that you may require. It also does not cover dental procedures or vision. However, the plans do typically pay for hearing aids.

One great thing about this supplemental policy is home care nurses are covered. So, if your present condition becomes severe and causes you to be home bound you can have a skilled professional come to your residence and provide services for you.

Therefore, it will be up to you to determine if the state that you presently reside in will allow you to obtain this additional coverage if you require it. If you choose to wait for an elongated frame of time to purchase this insurance policy, there is a chance that the company you are opting to obtain your policy from can choose to deny you.

By having both Medicare coverage and Medigap coverage seniors can eliminate their chances of having to pay any out of pocket costs for health conditions that they are presently being forced to combat.

You should definitely look at medicare supplemental insurance. Medicare supplement insurance will help those get the health care you need. You definitely can’t do without your insurance.

Do I Need Medigap Insurance And How Can I Find Out?

Thursday, November 25th, 2010

It is not so much a question as do I need Medigap insurance as much as much as can I afford not to be without it? In considering the answer to this question, let us take a look at what this kind of medical coverage is all about.

The very title of this scheme is self-explanatory, for it is a supplementary part of Medicare that takes care of the gaps which Medicare does not cover. These gaps include the fees of additional hospital facilities, doctors and other medical services which Medicare does not handle.

Because this supplemental benefit covers additional medical costs, it can not be considered an inexpensive option, but one to be carefully considered in the light of unforeseen medical bills and emergencies in the economy of today. Even old policies should be updated to the new ones and their separate plans. This is especially true when it comes to senior citizens who have held policies in their original state for many years.

Not unlike other medical aid companies, this one when being updated, will also take into account preexisting conditions and dread diseases just as in a brand new policy. These conditions and of course, terminal end-stage illness cases may very well not be eligible for update. This scheme is quite unique in that it does not cover spousal care or dependents as many other medical aid companies do. It is an independently-held policy for the sole use of the beneficiary that took the plan out in the first place.

Rather important to note that is that should a potential client already have coverage by another of the Medicare plans, this supplementary one would be superfluous, as the benefits of these are exactly the same. Should the client be under the complete coverage of one of these plans, these same conditions would apply. Likewise, the beneficiary plan and the Low-Income Medicare packages would not warrant taking out this supplement, as these policies normally cover the entire range of health care costs as it is.

Twelve benefit plans fall under this aid scheme. They are unvarying and fall under an umbrella called Plan A to Plan L (the twelve benefit plans). There is also a Core Benefits Package available. It is entirely up to an individual company taking out coverage for their customers, as to which of these packages they prefer to take out.

This policy does not cover orthodontics, eye-care, private nursing care or long-term services. The Core Benefits Package does, however, handle excess fees such as those not covered by other plans – which may provide hospital coverage for say 61-90 days, and the patient needs to stay for a longer duration. Likewise, The Core Benefit Package covers more than the acceptable pay-out of three pints of a blood transfusion. Just as most other medical insurance companies, this one also has an annual limit of transactions and payments they will cover. Nice to know is that it will include travel emergency medical care and preemptive medical health care.

In summary, an original Medicare Insurance will include Part A Hospital and Part B Medical coverage. This will take care of almost all medical treatments and health care but those that are not included in this original package will be caught up by this additional supplementary coverage. Those deductibles, the co-insurance and co-payments not covered by Medicare will be taken care of by your Medigap policy and not leave you out of pocket at a time of crisis. This is why you do need Medigap (to answer the question of the title of this article) and it would be advisable to take any relevant policies to the local branch office to see what needs to be updated and how your present cover can be best enhanced to suit your own individual needs or those of your corporation.

The Role Of Medicare Supplement Insurance

Thursday, November 25th, 2010

Senior citizens often are not able to rely solely on Medicare to cover the costs of their health needs. As such, most people age sixty five and older purchase Medicare supplemental insurance. This additional insurance company helps pay bills that are not otherwise covered by their retirement benefits.

This is a health care plan that is designed for seniors. Those who are applying for this insurance will need to be at least 65 years of age or older. As long as the right form of identification is provided, that will be the first step to qualification during this process. From there, other information is going to be needed and the individual needs to make sure that they have everything ready to go.

The actual qualification process is not as hard. Once the age is verified, the actual yearly income is then going to be evaluated. If there is too much money coming in, it might not be possible to get the right level of medicare supplemental insurance. Look everything over in order to save as much time as possible.

To get some better information, think about signing up for different quotes. Online insurance quotes will also help to explain the amount of coverage as well as what the price is going to be. It is going to be important to compare all of the descriptions in order to determine which one is going to work out the very best.

As such, many senior citizens join retiree groups, which sometimes offer discounts on major insurance companies’ policies. For example, one major retirement group has affiliated itself with and publicly endorsed a prominent health insurance company. In exchange for this group’s approval, the members of this retirement association enjoy discounts on their health coverage if it is purchased through this company.

Before making the actual switch, look into the specific prescription plans that are currently available. There are going to be different discounts that can be chosen as long as all of the specific requirements are met. This is going to help enable the individual to get all of the prescriptions that they need at one time and still have money left in their pocket.

Some legislators argue that other segments of the population have the responsibility to help pay for retirees’ health coverage. As such, people who make more money can expect higher taxes, which is supposed to be used to help pay for seniors’ additional health coverage.

Medicare supplemental insurance is designed to help the elderly population better meet health care expenses and ease the government’s burden in assisting this portion of the population. However, these same insurance companies charge premiums that many seniors find hard to pay for. As such, lawmakers strive to ease this dilemma and make going to the doctor when needed a reality for retired people.
